down from Asheville for the show. The entire experience from the parking lot, to the show, to the cab ride back to the hotel was amazing. I even wrote it up as a 'cultural event' for one of my humanities classes! Think I even got an A on the paper. I can still remember moving back into college August of that year, and hearing the news of his passing as I parked my car.

Listening to this for the first time. Other than If the Shoe Fits, a good 1st set song selection, and mostly well played. I'm only up to Here Comes Sunshine,
...
but really think the folks calling this the worst concert ever, or musing on how awful Jerry sounds, should take a listen to the Giants Stadium shows, or pretty much any of the other outdoor shows. Is this the searing Jerry of the 80's that could mail it on the nights he was smacked and still sound great? No. But the pace is quick, his leads are clean if "dumbed down" a bit [slower and less "intense"], and his vocals are standard 90's itchy and scratchy. I'm going to suffer through Samba just to see how Jerry sounds [wish I could mute Vince!!], but unless he pulls a disappearing act post Here Comes Sunshine, this may be one of the better '95 shows I've listened to. And definitely better than the ones I attended [Highgate, both Giants, both RFK]. And 1/2 way through Women Are Smarter, still sounding upbeat. Hopefully Eyes won't disappoint....

But based strictly on the S/B upload, this isn't a 1 or 2 star show so far.... more a 3 & 1/2 or 4 for the Stagger Lee, High Time, Black Throated Wind, one of the more cohesive post 1990 Bird Songs, and a lively Women are Smarter..... a ride the whole second set! We had sat almost behind the band the night before and of course, the only member we couldn't see was Hornsby. Still a good show but the 24th took me where I had never been before!

We just moved to Raleigh from Pgh, PA after our wedding and our best friend mail ordered (remember the index cards?) 2 tix for us as a wedding present.

Jerry sounded like he was on life support. Also sat so high up we next to God. Didn't know Jerry was on borrowed time but he sure sounded it that night. It was the saddest way to spend our last show with Jerry.
BTW...if anyone checks out Civic Arena, Pgh, PA 4/3/89 show...I posted that boyfriend and I nearly broke up at that show. Kinda weird that this Charlotte one was a wedding present!

jk6977 - 4 out of 5 stars - January 9, 2006 rating I have to disagree with. This was not a great nite for the dead and not near as good as the night before.

Jerry seemed extremely drugged out all three nites and song selection was not the best.
I remember being excited for this show after going to the Thur nite show and a bunch of friends came down from Raleigh that could not make it. All I remember at the end of the show was saying, "You shoulda been here last nite!"

since the night before with Hornsby was hot (in spite of Garcia's flubbed lyrics on "Scarlet"). The "Eyes" on this show has to be the most tortuous ever: plodding instead of lilting. I actually remember at the show that my friend and I just sort of stopped dancing halfway through because the rhythm was so off. Thank God things turned for the better in Atlanta.
